Day 12: Bringing down the house
Alright, time to crack my knuckles and pump out some memories. My last full day in Sydney was a good one, even though, like many other mornings on this vacation, it started with a massive hangover. A wise man once told me: "The sign of a good night is a bad morning." An even wiser man once said "Fish and chips? Really? Alright, man, whatever you want"
Milkshakes for breakfast makes it all the more disgusting
This was the last breakfast I would have with the ol' squad. Even though I was bitching about my head and stomach problems throughout the entire thing, it was a nice way to end our little time together. We decided get together and actually be proper tourists, finding a nice spot along the water to get a picture. Unfortunately, we were directly in front of the sun so the picture was a little weird. Fortunatly, I was able to take enough selfies to actually capture the moment when they lose patience.

Just like that, it was the OG, me and Tayla on the road. We had loose plans, our bags were at the hotel, and had about 4 hours till check-in, so we took our time exploring the city. We were at this...one... place, then we went on a ferry ride to another place. I hope nobody reading this cares about our actual destinations, because it would be a miracle for me to remember. All I know is that one town reminded of me of something you would find in Italy or a Mediterranean coastal area. The people were relaxed on this warm winter day, probably because their winters have the capability to be warm. Regardless of my seething jealousy towards the townsfolk, It was cool to see local people just living their lives, but in a cool, foreign way.
Just get me to the city so I can drink, please
There was some weirdness with the Ferry, so we ended up going back to our original location instead of further downtown. It was alright, we just grabbed a coffee and took another short walk until the next ferry came around. We chose to ignore their little ticket boorg, since we took an extra stop that we didn't want, and I realized a major flaw in the system. We didn't need to buy a ticket in the first place, did we? There was nobody there to check our stub, on or off the boat. How strange that they have an entire mode of transportation be funded by honesty. It was the easiest thing in the world to cheat, yet not a soul did, we all bought tickets and checked into each station.
Don't do it, lady!
Ohh shit nevermind, theres an entry point subway-style as we get off downtown, so everything I just said was wrong. Going in between the smaller sections was... you didn't need it then, though, so... Ahh man, my whole theory was wrong.
The ferry's gave way to some awesome sights, though. We got a nice close look at the Opra house as well as huge cliffs and small islands. I wouldn't be making a travel blog without including at least three pictures of the most architecture in the city, so here it is
Spotted: the rare floating-head sharks
It was a long walk to the hotel, but it wasn't check in time anyway, so instead we just tried to get something to eat. The timing was terrible though, most places in Australia will close after 3 and open again at 5:30. Not only that, but it was also a national holiday, so food joints were few and far between already. Lastly, we had to constantly search for Wi-Fi to make sure we knew where the hell we were going. Honestly, it's a little pathetic how much we relied on Google Maps GPS feature rather than just using the offline map of the city, but we're millenials damnit and it's somehow not our fault for being dumb. About half an hour after arriving downtown, we found a place that was open. An Italian restaurant that made the food in front of you. It was pretty amazing

After dinner we checked our location yet again to find out we were pretty close to the hotel. We saved the 15 bucks for an uber by walking the distance back, another test of my absolute lack of athleticism or good health. We got back to the hotel, crashed immediately, then spent the next 2 hours showering and watching shows on Netflix. I'm a little embarassed that we did that, but I also didn't feel like wandering the city looking for entertainment on a holiday. I also didn't feel like drinking yet. You know what, I don't have to explain myself to you. I watched 3 episodes of F is for Family and I damn-well enjoyed it. Then we got Thai food
Not seen: my bowels self destructing
After spending the next thirty minutes confused over the Thai restaurant's classification of "hot", we left and made our way to a bar. We got there around 8pm and saw that they had Kareoke that night, awesome! Tayla and I got a pitcher (Jug, for my Aussie readers) and drank it in about seven minutes. Kareoke started and I went to go sign up. Then something kinda weird happened, turns out the person who was going up second (and directly before me) requested the SAME song I did. Instead of singing "By the Way" by the RHCP for the second time in a row I brought out "Around the World" which had way more rap than I remembered. I think the crowd liked me until I was all like "YEA NEW YAWK BABY" and started spitting on them. It's rough being American abroad, man. They all got the stigmas.
Roses brought the house down, and by that I mean people politely applauded afterwards
We tried checking out different bars but we slowly realized that we struck gold initially and went back. By then, the crowd was larger and rowdyer and picking absolute trash for music. Some fozzyknockers picked a song entirely sung in french and didn't even attempt to sing it. Some other dude was trying to harmonize to "Take Me Out" and kept apologizing for how bad the performance was. Tayla and I knew there was only one way for this show to be saved. We needed to do a duet. And it needed to be a banger.
We brought out Bohemian Rhapsody to close out the night. Well, there were people that went after us, but they seriously lacked in their talent and passion compared to our unbelievable performance. I made a new friend Matt that bought me a beer and congratulated me on my performance. Then, somehow, we managed to get into an American political discussion that lasted about an hour. I won't say what we talked about exactly, but it was reassuring to know that, apparently, my political views alligned with many Australians. Or maybe Matt was talking out of his ass. Who knows.
Anyways, we got home and got a pizza from Room Service that they forgot to charge us for. We crashed immediately aftwards. But not after some netflix.
Few more days left! Hope you all enjoyed, thanks for reading.
